Chronicles of Wow

"Wow!"

Standing in line at Big Mouth Coffee, this was the reaction of the young barista to the person in front of me ordering an extra shot of espresso for their cappuccino.

My giggling, blatantly contemptuous, caused the barista to look up, and the patron turned around, both of their faces disapproving. A couple behind me, who apparently knew me or possibly only familiar with me from the coffee shop, cracked, “What is wrong with you?”

My response, “Wrong?” led to some murmuring until one person, behind the couple, reiterated, “Yeah, what is wrong with you?”

Taking my coffee, I smiled and replied, “Hmm, good question. Take a seat.”

"Wow" for me was the only credible reaction to a few moments in a life full of memorable circumstances.
